"AsiaSat will commemorate the launch of its first satellite into space. As we approach this 30-year milestone, we take a moment to recognize AsiaSat’s contribution to the work of our Radiocommunication Sector, in particular when it comes to improving the shared use of the scarce geostationary-satellite orbit resources. AsiaSat representatives are known in the satellite spectrum management community for their willingness to engage in constructive discussions and for their tireless efforts to support the progress of spectrum negotiations. In the lead-up to the ITU World Radiocommunication Conference 2019, we encourage all our Sector Members to be as involved as AsiaSat has been since it joined ITU more than 20 years ago. As Secretary-General, I congratulate AsiaSat on its historic launch and wish them continued success in satellite communications for the next 30 years and more."
