It’s World Space Week on 4-10 October! We celebrate this year’s theme of "Women in Space" by introducing you to one of our stars!

Dr. ZHANG Rui joined AsiaSat in 2009. As a Senior Communications Systems Engineer, her work encompasses the areas of spectrum planning and management. She is responsible for the frequency coordination activities as well as dealing with regulatory issues and protection of spectrum for satellite communications.

Based in Hong Kong, Rui has been representing our company at ITU-R Working Party Meetings including WP4A and 5D, Asia-Pacific Telecommunity (APT) group activities such as APT Conference Preparatory Group and APT Wireless Group meetings as well as World Radiocommunication Conferences (WRC).

Rui obtained her Ph.D in Electrical Engineering from the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada. Her interest in pursuing a career in the satellite industry was initially sparked by a curiosity in uncovering the many unexplained mysteries of things in our universe. The space sector represents the next frontier of communications technology, offering unprecedented opportunities for both established players and young startups to work together on new applications that will benefit humankind. She is proud to be at the forefront of so many exciting new developments in our industry.
